Weather Watchers is an interactive program led by the BRWA that explores topics within weather and climate, such as how do we measure elements of weather, where does weather some from, and how does weather and climate shape our lives and the flora and fauna of our watersheds. This program gives students an opportunity to use different ways of measuring weather, including personal reflection. Weather Watchers also introduces students to Indigenous ways of knowing about weather and place names, and Cree and Michif weather-related words, with knowledge shared with the BRWA from the Indigenous Elder Committee from the Maskwacis Cree Nations, and the Rupertsland Institute. Weather Watches was developed to fit the newest Grade 5 curriculum with strong links to the earth systems and scientific method units. Teachers guide available on request.
