Battle River Watershed Alliance (BRWA) celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2026. BRWA was incorporated as a not-for-profit society on December 6, 2006. Shortly after, the Government of Alberta designated BRWA a Watershed Planning and Advisory Council for the Battle River and Sounding Creek Watersheds. As a leader in Water for Life: Alberta’s Strategy for Sustainability, we have grown into a well-respected community organization. Our work focuses on stewardship of the land for water security, a stable economy, and resilient communities across central Alberta.
At this year’s AGM we are hosting the business meeting at Mirror Lake Centre in Camrose followed by lunch and a bus tour with stops in the Battle River Watershed to celebrate our 20th Anniversary.
Spots on the bus are limited.
The annual bird count celebrates 125 year in Canada. Birds Canada oversees the Christmas Bird Count program nationally, in partnership with National Audubon Society. Whether you have been part of the count for many years or wish to start this year, we encourage you to contribute to the count!

Come and discover the biodiversity at Schultz Lake with the BRWA!
When: Thursday, October 9th, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM
Where: RR 123 & TWP 410, Flagstaff County, AB
The team will meet at the Southwest end of the Lake, near the intersection of Range Road 123 & Township Road 410. Be sure to bring water, sun screen, bug spray, and anything else you might need to be out in nature for a few hours. If there is poor weather or excessive smoke, the event will be postponed or cancelled.
