Hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking”, is a controversial natural gas extraction process. Despite moratoriums in New York state, Europe and Quebec, the process continues, largely unexamined, in Alberta.
Jessica Ernst is an Alberta scientist with over 30 years experience in the oil and gas industry. In 2011, she launched a lawsuit against Encana and the Alberta government after her groundwater became contaminated. An international award recipient and speaker on the issue, we are pleased to welcome her to the Augustana campus.
