The Battle River Watershed Alliance
Battle River Watershed Alliance

Stakeholder Advisory Group / Recommendations Group

A stakeholder advisory group was formed early in the planning process to provide targeted consultation for the water management planning process. Known as the Battle River Watershed Advisory Group, it included members from rural and urban municipalities, agriculture, industry, academia, recreation and conservation. The group met monthly from June 2004 to November 2005 undergoing a collaborative learning process to better understand the Battle River watershed.

The Stakeholder Advisory Group amalgamated with the Government Steering Committee in November 2005 to form the Recommendations Group. Together, the members have brought their local and specialized knowledge to the table to develop recommendations that will be considered for the Battle River Water Management Plan. Rather than being responsible to a specific section, each member brings different sets of knowledge of the watershed to the table.

Dialogue and collaborative learning is promoted within the group so innovative and representative recommendations are made for consideration in the Water Management Plan.
