Aerial Videography Study

(Teichreb C. and Walker G. - 2008)

This project was conducted to test the use of geo-referenced, low-level aerial videography to assess the health and integrity of the riparian management area along selected reaches of the Battle River in support of Alberta Environment’s Water for Life Strategy and the Battle River Watershed Alliance.

Videography was collected on 28 August 2007 during a 5.5 hour helicopter flight where approximately 234 kilometres (flight distance) of theBattleRiverwas filmed. Riparian health and integrity was assessed from the video and summarized on a temporal basis in both tabular and map format.  This created a reference guide which viewers of the video could use to determine riparian health scores for particular areas of interest.
